How to make a body pillow cover?
This article will talk about how to make a body pillow cover by yourself. Few things say more about us than the accessories we carry, wear or appear with. Like the clothes we wear, the car we drive and our addressing of letters, your body pillow cover is an extension of what’s inside you. So why not make one that says as much good stuff as you’re already saying?
Purchase a large body pillow.
Purchase a large body pillow. If you don’t already have one, or if your current one is too small, purchase a new body pillow. These pillows are designed to be long enough for you to stretch out and support your entire body. The pillow should be firm enough to keep your body in a comfortable position. You also want a pillow that is big enough to support your body but still fits into your bed. Most pregnancy pillows are between 4 and 6 feet (121 to 182 cm) long, and can be wrapped into any shape you need support for the night.
Purchase a pillowcase for the pillow. A standard pillowcase won’t be long enough to fit your body pillow, which can be nearly as long as your height. Look for one that’s designed specifically for pregnancy pillows, or choose an oversized king-sized case.
Fill your pregnancy pillow with stuffing from another pillow. This is the easiest option, but it may not provide sufficient support once the filler material has conformed to your shape.
Use shredded memory foam as filler for your pregnancy pillow. Shredded memory foam is softer and more easily shaped than standard memory foam.
Insert fiberfill stuffing into the pillowcase of your pregnancy pillow.
Choose a fabric to use for the pillowcase. You can choose to use either a stylish, solid color or select a pattern, such as flowers, stripes or leopard print. The choice is yours.

Cut out a piece of fabric that is 32 inches by 42 inches (81cm x 106cm). This will be the back of your pillow case.
Place this piece on top of another piece of fabric that is 32 inches by 42 inches (81cm x 106 cm). This will be the front of your pillowcase. Make sure you place both pieces right sides together.
Now turn over the fabric and fold it in half lengthwise, right sides together again. Sew up one side with a 5/8 inch seam allowance.
Fold over the raw edge about 1/4 inch and press with an iron. Fold over again so the raw edge is hidden and sew down with a straight stitch from the top side of the pillowcase. This will give you a nice finished edge on both sides of your pillowcase.
Turn your pillowcase inside out and press it flat with an iron.
Measure the body pillow case fabric and cut out two pieces of fabric that are the same size. These pieces will be used to make the front and back of your pillowcase.

Determine the width of each piece of fabric by measuring from one end of the pillow to the other, then add one inch. Measure the length of each by measuring from top to bottom and adding 1-1/2 inches
Fold over a 1/2-inch hem on each side of both pieces of fabric. Pin into place and iron flat. Sew around all four sides.
With right sides together, pin the long sides together, matching up seams so they lie flat and pinning in place at the top and bottom as well. Sew around three sides using a 1/4-inch seam, leaving one short side open for turning. Turn right side out and press flat with an iron. Sew closed using a blind stitch or ladder stitch by hand or machine
Place the pieces of fabric together with their right sides facing inward. Pin them together along their outer edges and leave one of the shorter ends unattached. The unattached end is where you will add the zipper.

Place the fabric on the cutting board, with the side to be cut facing down. Using a straight edge, draw a line from one corner of the fabric to the other, along a line that is perpendicular to the selvage (the tightly woven side of the fabric). You can also use chalk or another non-permanent marker to draw this line.
Rotate your fabric so that it is lying flat on your cutting board, with its right side facing up. Using a ruler and tailor’s chalk or a non-permanent marker (like a washable marker), mark straight lines perpendicular to the selvage at 1/4 inch intervals, along one long side of your fabric. It’s helpful to divide your fabric into four sections and then make evenly spaced marks within each section. This will keep your marking straight and help ensure that all of your stitches are even in size. Your stitch length will determine how many markings you need on each piece of fabric. If you have a 4″ length between two lines drawn across your fabric
Sew out three sides of your pillowcase, attaching the two pieces of fabric together on both long sides and one short side. Leave the other short side open for now.
If you’ve got a sewing machine, you can make a beautiful pillowcase in just a few minutes.
Instructions:
1. Select your fabric. For the best color and pattern impact, the fabric should be 40″ wide and at least 60″ long. If it’s not quite large enough, you can “fussy cut” your pillowcase by centering the design of your fabric on one side of the pillowcase (this will be the outside), and then aligning a complementary pattern on the other side (the inside).
2. Cut your fabric to size. Your final pillowcase will measure approximately 20″ x 30″. To cut correctly, fold your fabric in half, so that it measures 20″ x 30″, and then snip off a corner to create a straight, square edge for cutting along. Cut along that straight edge, through both layers of fabric at once. Your final piece will now measure 20″ x 60″.
3. Fold in half, right sides together so that the finished edges match up evenly along the two long sides, creating one giant rectangle with finished edges on all four sides
4. Sew out three sides of your pillowcase, attaching the two pieces of fabric together on both long sides and one short side.
