Can you wash a body pillow?
Can you wash a body pillow?
Nothing is more irritating than the fluff of your pillow filling spilling out of its covering. Is your body pillow an off-white color? Do you ask yourself if it can you wash a body pillow in warm water? Believe it or not, I get asked these questions all of the time.
You should be able to wash your body pillow.
A body pillow is one of those things that you don’t realize how much you need it until you use one for the first time. When I was a kid, my mom would make me lie down on a regular pillow and then lie down next to me, draping her arm over the pillow so that it was like she was hugging me. It wasn’t the same as having an actual body pillow, but it did help me sleep.
I have been using my body pillow for a little over a year now and I am happy to say that I love it. It has helped me sleep through the night and I have found that I don’t wake up with back pain anymore. My only complaint is that I can’t wash it in the washing machine because the outer cover is not removable. The inner filling can be removed and washed separately, but the outer cover cannot.
I think this is a huge oversight on the part of the manufacturer because most people are going to want to wash their pillows at some point and if they can’t do it in the washing machine, then they are going to have to hand wash them or take them to a dry cleaner which is expensive and inconvenient.
Most body pillows come with washing instructions.
Most body pillows come with washing instructions. They are usually machine washable and require that you use a gentle cycle and tumble dry the pillow on low. This can be helpful if you need to clean the pillow in the middle of the night. Sometimes, regular cleaning of the pillow is important because it may get dirty from other household activities like cooking or eating.
If you have a large body, you may want to consider getting a larger body pillow. Many manufacturers make extra large pillows that are designed for people with large bodies. You can also find extra long body pillows that will give you more support and comfort when sleeping or relaxing.
Some companies make pillows for children as well as adults. They come in different sizes and shapes to fit any size of mattress or body type. Kids’ pillows are usually made with softer materials so they are more comfortable for kids to sleep on. If you have an older child, there are often special toddler bedding sets available that will fit into your child’s bed frame without having to buy a separate bed frame for them.
If you have a pet, there are also pet pillows available in many different colors and styles. Some of them even have zippers so they can be used as cushions.
For example, a tag that tells you to wash your pillow in cold water and tumble dry low may mean that the material can’t tolerate high temperatures, which could ruin its shape or consistency.

If you’re struggling to get your pillow clean, check the tags to make sure you’re following all of the manufacturer’s rules. Also, if you’ve had a spill on your bedding, it’s best to treat the stain immediately. If you leave it unchecked for too long, it may set into the fabric and become much more difficult to remove.
Of course, not all stains are created equal. Below is a list of some common substances that may end up on your pillow and how to remove them:
Blood: Soak a white cloth in cool water and dab at the stain until it’s gone. Do not use hot water because heat will set this stain permanently into the fabric.
Sweat: Most pillows are machine washable and can safely be run through the laundry without damaging them or their filling.
If your body pillow doesn’t have a tag with washing instructions, then consider the materials it’s made out of.

Most body pillows are filled with down or cotton, in a mixture of various fibers. The fill is what determines how your weight resting on the pillow will be distributed. Cotton is a very popular filling because it is soft and breathable, but some people prefer down fill because it is very soft, comfortable and moldable, but can cause allergic reactions for people who are sensitive to feathers. People also prefer both down and cotton because they are machine washable which makes it easy to clean up messes and spills. If you want to know if the pillow has down fill, then if you squeeze the pillow, little or no feathers will come out of the pillow.

The first step to washing your down body pillow is to test the fabric and make sure it’s colorfast. To do this, pour a small amount of warm water on the fabric and use a white cloth to rub it back and forth for about 5 seconds. If any color comes out of the fabric, then your body pillow can’t be washed in hot water.
If your body pillow can be washed in hot water, then remove the pillow case from the body pillow and wash it separately. If you have an older down body pillow, or one with a higher fill power (800-850), then you can wash it in a commercial size washer in one load. However, if you have a newer down body pillow with lower fill power (600-700), wash two pillows together so they balance each other out and don’t throw the machine off balance. In addition, if your home washing machine is smaller than 3 cubic feet, then wash two pillows together.
Add 1/4 cup of a high quality detergent that contains no bleach or whiteners. Use warm water on the washing cycle and cool water during the rinse cycle. Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar during the rinse cycle.
